As of january 1, 2024, to be considered an exempt employee in the u.s., a worker must be paid a minimum salary of $684 per week, or $35,568 per year. As of january 1, 2024, the current minimum wage in california is $16.00 per hour.

For Employers With 25 Or Less Workers, The Minimum Wage Would Reach $18 On January 1, 2026.

Gavin newsom in september signed a law that raises the minimum wage for the industry to $20 an hour.
